This will be an important game!  It will be played at our own Don Montgomery Sports Center in our wonderful new stadium at 7 PM.  If you can attend, why not call Bob Humble and let him know that you will be there.  He can give you parking lot info and all that stuff you may want to know. His phone number is:626-966-6897.

MANY WILDCATS REMEMBER HOW IMPORTANT THE SOUTH PAS - SAN MARINO GAMES WERE TO US AT MAD.

Here is Bob Humble's (Bob played in many of those games) account of the October 5th game that was played of the South Pasadena campus)

                                                                 South Pasadena Football Game 10/5

The Monrovia South Pasadena game was played on the South Pasadena High School campus. This was the location that I played in back in 1948. When the score was Monrovia 7 South Pasadena 7 it was a great time. Bob Blackman was coaching his second year. The team was one year away from the championship. South Pasadena has always been the school the Wildcats wanted most to defeat.

Well this year was no exception. The Wildcats were performing at their best this year and put the Tiger back into his cage to the score of Monrovia Wildcats 53 South Pasadena Tigers 14. The men from Monrovia started strong and never let up. Gevontray Ainsworth, a transfer from Covina had a great night. He had 142 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns.

This puts Monrovia into first place in the Rio Hondo League. The next game for the Cats is La Canada on Friday 10/12. This could be a very hard test for the Wildcats. Two weeks away will be a very important game with San Marino High School. San Marino has been very good this season and they are starting the Rio Hondo League with a 4 win and 0 losses. Best record in the league this year.

The games have been very exciting and the Wildcats have been performing well. Now that the so called second season (championship games) has started we can just sit back and enjoy the ride. Monrovia Wildcats will put on a magnificent show on their way to the Rio Hondo League Championship, Mid Valley Division, and CIF championships.

THE WILDCATS SCHEDULE

10/12, 7PM @ La Canada

10/18, 7PM @ Blair HS @ Muir HS

10/26, 7PM @ San Marino HS

11/2, 7PM VS Temple City HS @ Monrovia

It would be great if the alumni would get together and make it out to the Temple City game this year. The game will be played on November 2nd at 7PM at the Don Montgomery Sports Center at the new football stadium. Come and have a good time, wear your colors. GREEN & WHITE!

FOOTBALL CAME ON OCTOBER  12

MONROVIA FOOTBALL 2012                                                      10/15/2012

Monrovia’s football season was full speed ahead Friday night. The Cats played La Canada High School at Monrovia’s Don Montgomery Sports Complex.

The Wildcats started strong and never looked back. The Monrovia defense was awesome and offense was outstanding. The Cats were in control all night and Quarterback, Blake Heyworth only played the 1st half. He came out of the game when the score was 42-0 Wildcats.

The play of the game in the 2nd quarter was when Heyworth put up a 56 yard touchdown pass to Gillespir making score 35-0. The Spartans Kicker kicked a 49 yard field goal with just 18 seconds left in the game, putting the score at 49-3. The Wildcats defense led all the way and had seven interceptions. This puts the season record for the Monrovia Wildcats at 5-2.

Under the title “Strange but True” is what La Canada kicker Aidin Tourani did on a 4th down. Aidin commited to running the ball but stopped and threw an under handed pass to Todd Murray for 14 yards. This was one of the four passes completed by La Canada High School tonight. The final score of this game was Monrovia 49-3.

The next outing for the Wildcats is Blair High School of Pasadena on Thursday October 18 at John Muir High School’s field at 7PM. Blair’s record is 0-7 as of this week. The Wildcats will have their next Rio Hondo league play with San Marino High School on Friday October 26. Monrovia will take the field for the final Rio Hondo league game against Temple City High School on November 2nd at Monrovia at 7PM.

The Wildcats are the real thing. If you haven’t been to a high school football game, it will be worth your while to see this great Monrovia Wildcat Football team during this fantastic year. See the new field and facilities at the Don Montgomery Sports Complex.

GO CATS!!!

FOOTBALL 2012

It is that time of year again.  The Monrovia Wildcats are on the football field again.  Remember the excitement?  Remember the way that fall night air felt?

Bob Humble, class of 1948, is back on the field again.  In his letterman jacket he is faithfully recording the game for all of us that cannot be there.  I try to get to at least one game each season.  When I receive the schedule, I will pass it on.  It would be great to get a group together for early dinner and an exciting game at the wonderful Monrovia High School stadium.

BOB HUMBLE'S REPORT

The Wildcats of Monrovia High School have started the 2012 season with a somewhat slow start. As the returning Mid-Valley Div. 2 time Division champs. The “season” started on a sour note as the Cats made the trek to the Chino Hills area where the cows used to roam. But now there is an abundance of football players. Monrovia fell to the Ayala High School Bulldogs 16 to 15 a very strange score, as the Cats are known for their high scoring games. Well I guess that is why they call the games practice games. On September 7th the Cats took on the Arcadia Apache.

The one point loss to Ayala last week seemed to put the “wild” back into the “Wildcats” and the men from Monrovia were again performing with sharp and vigorous actions. The old Monrovia “spirit” was back

The “Cats” were going in the right direction. The plays were smoother and the team had that get the job done attitude. The “Cats” were on the move again. Arcadia could not keep a drive going and turned the ball over several times. The Wildcats were winning and winning big, they defeated the Arcadia Apaches 52 to 17.

The next game pitted the Cats against the Saints from San Dimas High School. This was a real test game for the Wildcats as the Saints have given Monrovia a very tough time over the years. And this year was no exception. The Wildcats came out on top of a very vigorous game 35 to 23.

South Hills High School was the next game in a very strong Pre-Season, and again the South Hills Huskies prevailed 30 to 27. The Wildcats have not had a good early season record dropping 2 of the warm up games. The next game will be the last of the Pre-Season. St. Francis High School will be the final warm up for the Wildcats. At this point in the season the Wildcats are at two wins and two losses. This game will be a final warm up before the Rio Hondo League games will begin.

So at this point the Cats have put up a 50/50 record. This is the end of the non-league games. From now on the effort has to be “win baby win”. I am sure that the coaches and players of the Monrovia Wildcats will play outstanding games and will have another winning season.

See you all at the games. Your sideline reporter Bob Humble ’48 #36.
